Soon after we got home from the mini-Maui event in San Diego (see my last post), we flew to Omaha, NE on May 5th for the Berkshire Hathaway annual shareholders’ meeting, otherwise known as “Woodstock for Capitalists”. We had always admired Warren Buffett’s character, investing philosophy, and business achievements. After attending the weekend event, we came away even more impressed with Buffett and Berkshire – what a special person and company! David wants to write his very first blog on this topic (any day now…) so I won’t steal his thunder here.
As if there wasn’t enough excitement with 2 out-of-state trips in a 3-week period, we went to a friend’s birthday party the following weekend; the next day we met up with my junior high school friend Sabrina who came for a visit from Taiwan — and we hadn’t seen each other for 18 years!
For the remainder of May, we were busy working through 6 real estate transactions, managing tenant turnovers at our rental properties, doing due diligence on some investments as well as a new business opportunity. Of course, we couldn’t leave it at that – we started a new business in the midst of all this craziness!
Seriously though, we love our lifestyle free of regular jobs! We still work hard sometimes, but we choose our hours as well as the people we work with, and enjoy the work we do. We learn something new everyday, and it’s so exciting to see new possibilities!
